Rain Overspreads Our Area; Some Flooding Possible

Moisture has continued to push into our area from Mexico, and with waves of upper-level energy moving overhead, rain chances will increase quickly this afternoon and evening. Thunder may be limited due to extensive cloud cover, but a few heavier downpours are possible. Flash flooding also remains a concern, particulalryl across the southern Sangre and eastern Plains. Temperatures overnight will drop into the 50s for most, with mostly cloudy skies.

Thursday will feature further chances for widespread heavy rainfall, with many of the same parameters (moisture, upper-level energy) still in place. If some sunshine breaks through the clouds, stronger thunderstorms may also be possible. Afternoon highs are forecasted to reach the upper 60s and 70s.

Friday will be the last day with the potential for showers and thunderstorms before high pressure builds in. Expect sunshine, drier conditions, and warmer temperatures Saturday through Monday. Highs in Colorado Springs and Pueblo will warm into the low-80s to mid-80s, respectively. There is increasing confidence in wetter and cooler weather returning to our area by Tuesday.
