Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Warmer – 8/30/2020

Overview: Some drier, hotter air will return to the area today, but it won't stay long as a series of cold fronts promise to bring periods of wind and surges of cooler air to eastern Colorado.

Today: Pockets of low cloud cover over low lying areas in eastern Colorado will clear out this morning as the low-level moisture causing them continues to drain away from the higher terrain, then mostly sunny for awhile before clouds return this afternoon as the air heats up. We have a chance for isolated, generally weak showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. The air will be drier and warmer with high temperatures in the 80s and 90s for the plains, 70s to lower 80s for the mountains and mountain valleys.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms will end this evening with partly cloudy conditions through midnight. Becoming wind late as a cold front works over the area. By morning it is possible that we'll have some low clouds over parts of the area as the cooler air settles in. Low temperatures in the 40s and 50s for most areas.

Extended: Cooler on Monday with temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s for the plains, 60s and 70s for the mountains. Some showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday night into Tuesday morning. Tuesday looks cool again with afternoon storms less likely. Wednesday should be breezy and warmer, but Thursday should be windy and cooler again. We’re on the “kiddie-coaster” with regard to temperatures this week which is just a sign that fall isn’t too far away!
