Heavy Rainfall Brings Flash Flood Warnings to the Sangre de Cristo Range
A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the Spring Creek Burn Scar as mountain thunderstorms have dropped approximately 1" of precipitation to the area. Small creeks and streams are likely dealing with increased water flows, so be mindful of potential flooding along HWY 160.
Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely along I-25 and HWY 50 through the evening with the possibility of one or two of the storms to produce brief heavy rainfall along with strong outflow wind gusts. But the general severity of the thunderstorms tonight is low. Gradually the precipitation will fizzle out overnight with temperatures down to 60 degrees in Colorado Springs and 63 in Pueblo.
Sunday: Partly cloudy to start the morning with high temperatures slightly cooler than those of the past few days. Reaching 86 degrees in Colorado Springs and 92 in Pueblo by early afternoon. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will again develop in the mountains and move east through the day. The most likely area to see strong the severe thunderstorms is the far eastern plains, although there are Flash Flood Watches in effect for the Sangre de Cristo's as a few slow moving storms could drop heavy rainfall.
Extended: The trend of daily afternoon thunderstorms is going nowhere fast. Colorado Springs is dealing with chance thunderstorms at least through the next 7 days. High temperatures near seasonal, in the high 80s and low 90s in El Paso County.
