Warm and mostly dry weather persists

High pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere continues to dominate our weather pattern, as temperatures have once again reached the 80s for most. Chances for rain remain confined to the higher terrain, although a non-zero chance exists for a brief shower from Colorado Springs to the north. Very much a rinse-and-repeat forecast, showers and thunderstorms will dwindle into the overnight hours with mostly clear skies. Temperatures overnight will remain mild, with most holding in the 50s into early Thursday morning.

Thursday will feature more of the same, with high temperatures into the 80s, dry conditions across the I-25 corridor and the eastern Plains, and isolated showers and storms in the high country.

The upper-level ridge will remain in place through the rest of the week, with close to record-breaking warmth on Friday and Saturday. As a potent upper trough begins to approach the area this weekend, chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase across the mountains for the weekend, while the rest stay mostly dry. A significant pattern change is in the works for everyone by early next week, as confidence continues to increase for cooler and potentially wetter weather. Yet another East Pacific tropical system may help to add moisture to our area as it gets wrapped up in the incoming upper low.
