Record Heat This Afternoon

Temperatures this afternoon have so far tied the daily record in Colorado Springs, while temperatures were a few degrees shy of the record in Pueblo. Showers will continue to develop in the mountains, and there is a slight chance of a few showers making it to the I-25 corridor later this evening, particularly north of Colorado Springs. Otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies and another mild night. Most will hold onto the 50s by early Wednesday morning, with good chances for further records of warm overnight lows.

Wednesday's forecast will remain similar as high temperatures warm into the 80s for many. We'll again be close to daily records, although the bar will be set a little higher this time around. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase across the mountains by the afternoon, while the I-25 corridor and the eastern Plains sit under mostly sunny skies.

The upper-level ridge responsible for our warm and mostly dry weather will continue to dominate the weather pattern through the weekend. High temperatures will be running into the low 80s for many each afternoon, and chances for rain will be limited. By early next week, we are tracking a potent storm system and increasing confidence in cooler temperatures and better rain chances. Snow could also be significant across the higher elevations by this time.
