Heavy rain possible through the night

A low-pressure system fueled by ample moisture from what was a strong hurricane in the eastern Pacific continues to push across our area. A Flood Watch is in place until noon on Thursday, and high-elevation snow is also falling above 12,000 ft.

The latest data suggests the heaviest amounts of rainfall will be found across our southeastern counties. This is also where a few stronger thunderstorms may develop later tonight. Otherwise, look for overnight lows to drop into the 40s and 50s under cloudy skies.

Showers remain possible Thursday morning, but rain chances will end west to east through the day. By the afternoon, look for some sunshine and high temperatures in the 60s area-wide. It could be a little breezy at times, with winds out of the north gusting to 40 mph, particularly across our eastern Plains.

For the rest of the week and weekend, high pressure builds in, giving our area plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will reach the 70s for most of each afternoon. The next chance for rain will be on Tuesday of next week.
