High heat and hazy conditions

Today: While most air quality index's out of the El Paso County area is portraying good conditions, there are still pockets of smoke and moderate air quality. An air quality alert due to the wildfire smoke is in place over Pueblo County until 9 am on Monday. There is a good chance that this alert will be extended through Tuesday morning if the Aspen Acres Fire continues to grow. The winds are overall pushing from the east to the west, which is causing the more hazy conditions over the high county, affecting areas like Salida and Saguache. Small showers and an isolated thunderstorm are possible in Teller County from 4-6 pm. Most precipitation will be wrapped up by 7 pm.

Tomorrow: Mountain thunderstorms pop off after 12 pm, mainly affecting the southwestern areas. A severe storm is possible and will likely bring moderate rain over the Ferris Fire. The Gold Mountain Fire is expected to get a small shower after 5 pm. Storms for the southwest linger until 9 pm. I-25 and east stays completely dry and hot. Temperatures will likely be in the low-90s once again for Colorado Springs and mid-to-high 90s for Pueblo.
