Elevated Fire Weather Continues

Tonight: Fire Weather Warnings till 8pm tonight for most of SE Colorado. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely this evening in central/southern Colorado. Keep an eye out for the burn scar areas as brief heavy rain could trigger flash flooding in those areas. Moderate to strong wind gusts are also possible with the thunderstorms, up to 50mph in the strongest storms. The precipitation chances will come to an end overnight with temperatures to 56 degrees in Colorado Springs and 61 in Pueblo.

Sunday: Plenty of sunshine through the day helping temperatures reach 88 degrees in Colorado Springs and 95 in Pueblo. A few very isolated rain showers will pop up along HWY 50 during the afternoon but the overall coverage of the precipitation will be very limited. The main weather story for Sunday is the return of strong winds. Afternoon wind gusts will likely hit 40-45mph, prompting Fire Weather Warnings that begin at 11am.

Extended: Fire Weather Watches are in place for Monday as the elevated fire weather continues. Hot and dry through the first half of the week, with a slight cool down and increased precipitation chances beginning Thursday.
