Approaching cold front

Today: Plenty of sunshine through the day with temperatures ranging 10-15 degrees above average for early January. Reaching into the high 50s in Colorado Springs and low 60s along HWY 50. Light winds at 5-10mph and no chance of precipitation.

Sunday: An approaching cold front will cool temperatures drastically compared to that of today. Only hitting into the low 40s along the I-25 corridor, which is seasonal. The cold front is looking quite dry, making for very minimal snow chances for Colorado Springs and Pueblo with the frontal passage. The main weather story will be the increase in wind speeds during the afternoon and overnight hours. Gusts to 30-35mph are possible through into Monday in El Paso County, with the strongest winds likely in the eastern plains with gusts to 45mph.

Extended: Cooler temperatures to start the workweek and dry conditions. Entering into a slight warming trend starting Tuesday, with temperatures returning to the 40s and 50s. The next chance for any meaningful snow in Colorado Springs is Thursday night. But I'm not very impressed with current model runs, so don't expect a blizzard by any means.
