How does your experience make you qualified to represent the people?

I was born and raised in Pueblo, so I have familiarity with the people, history, and landscape of Pueblo County. My years of serving the public in various capacities have fostered in me an even stronger desire to serve people and represent the community of Pueblo. With 13 years' experience in the county government, 4 years in the County Clerk’s office and 9 in the Assessor’s office, I bring a comprehensive understanding of how the offices work together to serve the public. I started in an entry-level position in the Assessor’s office and worked my way up to a senior appraiser, which gives me first-hand knowledge of what the different positions do and how they work together. I have strong leadership skills and thrive on working with others to provide the most accurate, fair, and up-to-date information possible.

What are your top policy priorities?

I will focus on accuracy, consistency, transparency, and customer service: Accuracy in making sure that all data is correct, consistency in strengthening training and oversight to ensure every property is valued uniformly, transparency in explaining how we determine values, why values matter, and what rights there are to protest a valuation, and finally providing customer service that prioritizes respect, patience, and clarity to all citizens of Pueblo County.

What is one issue you think is being overlooked in this race, and how would you address it?

I think the issue being overlooked is that we have been through two data conversions within 5 years in the Assessor’s office, and we still have a decent amount of cleanup to be completed. My priority will be data cleanup projects to ensure that the Assessor's office uses and provides data that is as accurate, complete, and accessible to the public as possible.
