EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) — UPDATE: Highway 115 has reopened Monday morning while firefighters continue to work on the Wild Horse Fire.

Earlier

Southeast Highway 115 from Turkey Creek Rd. to Little Turkey Creek is under a mandatory evacuation notice due to the Wild Horse Fire burning more than 200 acres as of Sunday night.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said people need to evacuate the area immediately.

There is also a pre-evacuation notice for all streets connected to Redcliff Ranch Vw. and 3 miles to the North.

People are asked to only call 911 if they are in immediate danger.

Captain Mike Smaldino said 100 firefighters are fighting the Wildhorse Fire. He also said 35 homes have been evacuated.

A Fort Carson spokesperson said the fire started on the west side of Highway 115, and high winds pushed it across the road. It is now burning on the Army post in a training area.

Departments from Fort Carson, Highway 115, Security, Colorado Springs, Cimarron Hills, CSU Utilities, U.S. Forest Service, Tri Lakes, Wescott, and El Paso County Wildland are fighting the fire.

There is a full northbound and southbound lane closure on CO 115, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The closure is on a nearly 30 mile stretch of road between US 50 and Rock Creek Canyon Rd. CDOT said drivers should use an alternate route and watch for emergency crews.

At 9:32 Sunday night, Colorado State Patrol in Florence said they plan to open CO 115 northbound from Penrose at 11 p.m. The southbound lane will reopen from Colorado Springs at 4:00 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service in Pueblo tweeted that firefighters are battling the flames in high winds. NWS recorded gusts at over 50 mph. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

This is a developing story. We will update it when more information is available.
