Man arrested after throwing TV, fleeing police in El Paso County pursuit

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 35-year-old man has been arrested after deputies say he threw a television at someone, fled from law enforcement, crashed his vehicle and led deputies on a pursuit across eastern El Paso County.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), deputies responded around 2:41 a.m. on July 14 to a home in the 11000 block of Bossett Drive in the Falcon Meadows area after a caller reported that a person they knew had thrown a television, striking them in the face and leg.

By the time deputies arrived, they say the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Mason Buck, had left the scene.

Deputies later spotted Buck near Woodmen Road and Golden Sage Road and attempted a traffic stop, but investigators say he turned around and drove away. Deputies chose not to pursue, says EPSO.

A short time later, EPSO says deputies received a report that Buck had been involved in a crash near Lambert Road and Park Gate Drive.

While responding, EPSO says the Colorado Department of Corrections notified dispatch that Buck was wearing a GPS ankle monitor and provided deputies with location updates. Authorities tracked Buck as he drove through a field, crossed Highway 24, and continued south on Scott Road and McKissick Road, according to officials.

Deputies eventually blocked access to Spencer Road, where law enforcement says Buck attempted to drive around the blockade before sliding into a ditch. EPSO says he exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.

According to EPSO, Buck is being held without bond for the following charges:

• Second-degree assault
• Vehicular eluding
• Criminal mischief
• Child abuse
• Second-degree criminal tampering
• Violation of a restraining order
