Nathan Pine out as Air Force Athletic Director

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) is making a surprising change in its athletic department.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, USAFA is pushing out Athletic Director Nathan Pine saying in a social media post, that he is being pushed out "at the urging of outgoing superintendent Lt. Gen. Tony D. Bauernfeind. His surprising dismissal will include Pine being paid out the remaining years on his contract."

He began in his role with USAFA in 2019 after serving in the same role at Holy Cross. During his time the athletics department has won four Learfield Director's Cups in the Mountain West Conference, given to the school with the most successful overall athletic programs for a given academic year.

The USAFA Athletics Department has not responded to our request for more details as to why Pine is being pushed out.

This is a developing story, it will continue to be updated.
