Critical fire danger and smoky skies in southern Colorado

We will have partly cloudy skies tonight, along with some smoky conditions for most areas along the I-25 Corridor. We do have a Red Flag Warning in effect for most areas here in southern Colorado through midnight. It will be windy with winds out of the southwest at around 10 to 15 mph, which will continue to bring smoky conditions into the I-25 Corridor. We also have an Air Quality Health Advisory in effect through Friday morning at 9 a.m. that will likely be extended.

Friday will bring another day with a Critical Fire Danger. We will have another Red Flag Warning that goes into effect at 10 a.m. Friday, and that will be in place through midnight. Expect breezy conditions, which will once again bring some smoky conditions into the I-25 Corridor. Highs will climb into the low to mid-90s in the Pikes Peak Region, with temperatures near triple digits out in the Eastern Plains.

Expect lighter winds on the Fourth of July, along with some hot temperatures. Highs will hover near 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. We do have a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm late in the day.

Sunday will bring us our first chance of showers and thunderstorms that we've seen in a while. Highs will climb into the upper 80s.

A better chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives on Monday and will stick around through Wednesday. We will see highs near 90 degrees, and this could be a nice little wet pattern for us here in southern Colorado.
