High fire danger and windy conditions continue in Southern Colorado

Tonight we will see partly cloudy skies and hazy conditions caused by the Aspen Acres fire burning in Pueblo and Custer counties. It will be windy with southwest winds at around 15-20 mph. We do have a Red Flag Warning for most areas in Southern Colorado through 10 P.M. this evening, and most of our viewing area is under an Air Quality alert because of wildfire smoke. That alert will be in place until 9 A.M. Wednesday morning. We could also see winds gusting to over 40 miles per hour near the Aspen Acres Fire. There is a slight chance of severe thunderstorms tonight on the Eastern Plains.

We do have another Red Flag Warning on Wednesday from 10 A.M. through 10 P.M. We could see some smoky skies again in the afternoon and evening hours. We will see temperatures in the lower 90s for most areas, along with breezy conditions in the afternoon and evening hours.

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for Thursday as we expect another day with a High Fire Danger. It will be warmer with high in the low to mid 90s for the Pikes Peak Region, and near triple digit heat out on the Eastern plains.

Friday will bring a lot of sunshine and highs in mid 90s.

Expect mostly sunny skies on the Fourth of July, with high in the low to mid 90s.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives on Sunday and Monday along with slight cooler temperatures. We will see highs in the upper 80s for the weekend.
