Evacuations ordered for wildfire west of Sheep Mountain in Huerfano County

HUERFANO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Huerfano County Government confirms that there is a wildfire west of Sheep Mountain near CR531. Incident Command for the fire announced evacuations for all those between the fire and Highway 69, and between the fire and Farisita.

Officials are asking evacuees go to Gardner, while they set up an evacuation point.

As of 7 p.m. the fire had been named the "Big Sheep fire" and estimated to be 314 acres.

Officials say multiple fire districts and the Huerfano County Sheriff’s Office are currently assessing and responding to the fire.
