Showers and Thunderstorms Each Afternoon

And the hot weather will continue. A huge dome of high pressure continues to drive up bands of moist air across the Rocky Mountain West, and that moisture turns into late day thunderstorms over the Southern Foothills of Colorado.

This pattern will stick around for the next five days before the moist monsoonal moisture gets detoured away from us this weekend. In the meantime, the familiar pattern of morning sunshine and afternoon rain will continue. The best chance for storm and meaningful moisture will be on Wednesday, and on Thursday extensive cloud cover will keep Colorado Springs temperatures in the lower 80s. Then a dome of hot and dry air will settle in and temperatures across the Southeast Plains will soar into the triple digits. Back to work early morning temperatures around Colorado Springs will be in the 60s, highs will be in the low 90s. Afternoon and evening storms start up around suppertime.
