Teller County neighborhood pre-evacuation orders lifted, crews report fire knocked down

MGN

TELLER COUNTY, Colo, (KRDO) -- A pre-evacuation order was lifted in Teller County following reports of a structure fire. Authorities are now saying the order telling people to leave immediately shouldn't have been sent out.

At 4:14 p.m., the Teller County Sheriff's Office said a pre-evacuation warning was going out due to structure fire near 651 Gold Dust Creek Rd. Residents in that area were told to evacuate immediately.

There was a pre-evacuation order for a 1/2 mile radius of the intersection of Gold Dust Rd. and Conestoga Creek Rd.

At 4:26 p.m., the sheriff's office said the orders had been lifted after multiple fire agencies had knocked the fire down.

Crews are staying at the scene to attend to any hot spots.

The TCSO told KRDO it was a reported RV fire and the pre-evacuation notice should not have been issued telling people to evacuate immediately.

This is a developing story.
