County-wide stage one fire restrictions lifted for El Paso County

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office announced Monday that effective immediately, stage one fire restrictions have been lifted for the county.

The City of Colorado Springs also rescinded its burn ban on Monday.

The Sheriff's Office said that due to the various topographical features in the county, where some areas may experience large amounts of moisture, and others may remain dry, they request that individuals contact their local Fire Department before engaging in any burning that may have been allowed in the past.

Areas along the eastern edge of the county should particularly cautious when burning or using any flame-producing device.

Due to the different regulations or standards each Fire District or department may have, the Sheriff's Office advises contacting your local district before engaging in fire-related activities. Some jurisdictions may also require a permit other than what is required by the county.

Despite restrictions being lifted, the Sheriff's Office continues to urge caution and safety when using any open fire or flame-producing device.
