COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity will join its supporters and many eager shoppers on Saturday, Sep. 18th to celebrate the grand opening of the second Habitat ReStore in El Paso County. Activities will start at 9:30 a.m. with the ribbon-cutting by Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers just ahead of 10:00 a.m.

Store Hours: Mon - Sat, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The Habitat ReStore is a home improvement store and resale center that sells donated furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat for Humanity uses funds raised by its ReStores to help more families build, rehabilitate, and repair their homes.

“The opening of this new Habitat ReStore marks the latest step in our efforts to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing in El Paso County,” said Jeff White, PPHFH Chief Retail Officer. “Shoppers can find unique and high-quality items, such as furniture, lighting fixtures, tiles, and paint, but inventory changes frequently, so stop by soon and often. We wish to thank our donors, supporters, shoppers, and the entire El Paso County community for helping to make this grand opening a huge success.”

The ReStore helps keep tons of material out of the landfill—about 1,500 tons of material this past year. The ReStore also recycles porcelain (which goes to creating a road base for the city), metal, and cardboard, generating more revenue for building houses. In 2018, the ReStore became a state-certified paint recycling collection center as part of PaintCare, a nonprofit stewardship organization, that provides our community with a convenient and environmentally responsible way to recycle unused paint. This will be the second ReStore in Colorado Springs that serves as a paint recycling drop-off site through PaintCare.

Habitat ReStores rely on the generous donations of new and gently used household items, building supplies, and furniture to help Habitat create homeownership opportunities. To arrange a pickup of a donation, please call 719.667.0841.
