Water main break set to close Garden of the Gods Road for days
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A section of Garden of the Gods Road closed Tuesday because of a water main break, according to Colorado Springs Police. Now, police say the closures should be expected to last for days.
Initial reports of the water main break came in around 12:20 p.m. CSPD said the westbound and eastbound lanes were closed near Interstate 25 and originally said the closure could last several hours.
At 3:13 p.m., CSPD said eastbound and westbound lanes from Chestnut to Rusina will remain closed for the next 2-3 days.

Following the announcement of closing the road for several days, crews began digging into the road around 5:30 p.m. to locate the problem and begin making repairs.
After a few hours of working, CSU crews found the failure in the pipe connection that caused the water main break.
According to Colorado Springs Utilities, crews will work around the clock in an effort to re-open the road as soon as possible.
Colorado Springs Fire Department urged drivers to seek alternative routes.
