Arrest made after man found dead near Fillmore Ridge Heights in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs Police say they've arrested a suspect and identified the victim who was found dead in a field near Fillmore Ridge Heights this past Saturday.

CSPD issued an update Friday saying 23-year-old Lakoda Smith is facing a first-degree murder charge and was arrested on Sunday. A mugshot for Smith hasn't been released yet.

According to police, officers were called to an open field near 3300 Fillmore Ridge Heights for a report of a dead body. Officers found a victim dead "with signs of obvious trauma."

On Friday, the victim was identified as 60-year-old Clinton Richard Stamp.

Police say Stamp's death is the 17th homicide investigation so far this year. We're working on getting more details on the case.
