Colorado updating mask order to follow CDC guidance

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado will be changing the statewide order that requires masks in many settings after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued updated guidelines Thursday saying fully vaccinated people can ditch the masks in many places.

According to a statement from Gov. Jared Polis' office, the state "will be updating our mask order to follow CDC guidance shortly."

Earlier Thursday, the CDC said fully vaccinated people can stop wearing mask outdoors in crowds and in most indoor settings.

The guidance still calls for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons, and homeless shelters, according to the Associated Press. RTD has said that riders on public transit in the Denver metroplex will still be required to wear masks.

We'll have more information when it's made available from the governor's office.
