Investigation underway after person allegedly throws kitten out of SUV on Interstate 25

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Human Society of the Pikes Peak Region needs help getting information after someone allegedly threw a kitten out of a moving SUV while going north on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs.

The incident happened Monday morning, according to HSPPR. Animal Law Enforcement officers got a call saying a person in a silver or gold Ford Escape "dangled a kitten out the window of the moving vehicle and threw it out."

Officers went to the reported area near I-25 and the Garden of the Gods Road exit, and they found the body of a deceased black cat.

HSPPR says depending on what investigators learn, the person responsible for throwing the cat on the road could be charged with animal cruelty.

HSPPR is asking for any witnesses who saw the incident to call 719-302-8798.

If you can no longer keep your pet, you're urged to make an appointment to surrender them to the Humane Society. Information can be found here.
