Fountain man charged with sexual assault after meeting 15-year-old through social media

FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KRDO) -- Fountain police say a 32-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old he met through a social media app.

Fountain police released a statement Thursday saying Wayne Walter Lambert was arrested on Wednesday. He's being charged with sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to a police affidavit obtained by KRDO, Lambert allegedly met the victim on the app Meet Me sometime around the beginning of March. After chatting, Lambert got the victim's number and they began texting.

The affidavit says the victim first met Lambert in person in the beginning of April, and he would "pick heru p near her house after she snuck out of the house, and they would drive around her neighborhood."

Lambert apparently never asked the victim how old she was, but he told her he was 32, according to the affidavit.

The sexual assault happened on April 7. The victim reported the assault to a school counselor after it happened, saying that Lambert sexually assaulted her while she was passed out. The victim reported that she told Lambert to stop, but he continued until she began to cry. Lambert was reportedly not wearing a condom, according to the affidavit.

Police got the report and obtained text messages showing the victim confronting Lambert about the assault.

"I was crying and you kept going," one text message said. Wayne responded by saying, "No I stopped actually," according to the affidavit.

Investigators also looked through law enforcement databases and learned that Lambert is a suspect in two other separate sexual assault investigations. In those incidents, police say the victims described actions similar to what Lambert is accused of in this most recent case.

Fountain police officers offered a reminder of the "dangers of children using social media." FPD says they're looking for any additional witnesses or victims who may know Lambert.
