FAQs on the Covid-19 Vaccine
Colo. (KRDO) -- As the vaccine rollout continues in Southern Colorado, there are still some important questions that need answered.
Do you still have to wear a mask after getting the vaccine?
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment says it will take about one to two weeks for your body to respond to the vaccine and make enough antibodies to protect you. But, current info suggests that it is possible that someone who has been vaccinated against Covid-19 may still have a mild or asymptomatic infection, potentially spreading the virus to others. So it is important to continue taking steps to prevent the spread like wearing masks and practicing physical distancing until it is clear that it is safe to stop.
Do you need to quarantine from possible exposure after two doses of the vaccine?
The state says it could be one to two weeks after your last dose of the vaccine to be protected. After that, because the vaccine has shown high effectiveness, CDPHE is hopeful that most people who have gotten two doses of the vaccine will not be required to quarantine.
What about the three weeks between doses? Will you have to quarantine then if exposed?
The answer to that is yes. You should follow the standard quarantine as advised by state and local public health officials if you are possibly exposed between doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Do you need to isolate if you develop Covid-19 symptoms more than two weeks after your second dose of the vaccine?
The state health department says that if you develop Covid-19 symptoms more than one to two weeks after being fully vaccinated, you should isolate and contact your health care provider for instructions on whether to be tested for Covid-19 or other infections.
