COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A woman is in custody after she assaulted a CSPD officer who was responding to a scene Friday night.

Around 6:47 p.m., police were dispatched to the 7-11 convenience store in the 1900 block of Uintah Street about a female who was acting erratically, says CSPD.

A responding officer contacted the suspect, who was later identified as Sarah Lightfoot. Lightfoot became uncooperative and refused orders given to her by the officer, police say.

"A struggled ensued during which the officer was assaulted and partially [dragged] while the suspect vehicle was moving in reverse," according to police. The suspect vehicle then backed into a marked police cruiser, causing minor damage.

While the officer and Lightfoot were fighting, the officer was helped by two civilians in the area. They helped control Lightfoot while the officer placed her in handcuffs, police say.

The officer sustained minor injuries from the incident and returned to duty, according to police.

Police later discovered that Lightfoot's vehicle was stolen. Lightfood was booked on several charges related to the incident, says CSPD, but her specific charges were not immediately available.
