Colorado Springs police investigate shots fired early New Year’s Day
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Just after 1 a.m. New Year's Day, police responded to a report of shots fired northeast of the Cimarron Hills area.
At 1:09 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of Steward Lane, according to the police report. At the scene, witnesses told officers that a male victim had been shot but had left the area. Police did not identify any suspects at the scene, but found shell casings from the street.
At about 2:30 a.m. officers learned that a male victim had arrived at a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury. Police say that this injury may be related to the earlier call of shots fired.
The investigation is ongoing.
