FORT CARSON, Colo. (KRDO) -- This holiday season has seen several anonymous donors become "layaway angels" for families around Colorado Springs, and Thursday, about two dozen families on Fort Carson also got an unexpected gift.

Twenty-two families who had layaways at the Fort Carson Army & Air Force Exchange learned that they wouldn't have to pay a dime to pickup the presents.

According to Fort Carson, the nonprofit organization Pay Away the Layaway contributed more than $4,200 to clear the layaway balances at the Exchange.

Throughout this month, there have been reports of anonymous donors making their way to layaways in order to spread some holiday cheer.
