CDOT continues resurfacing project on Hwy 24 in Manitou Springs – KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - For the past six months, the Colorado Department of Transportation has been resurfacing and making structural improvements to Highway 24.

The $11.5 million construction project is taking place through a 10 mile stretch of Hwy 24 between 8th Street to just west of Manitou Springs.

According to the CDOT website, work for the project usually happens overnight Sunday through Thursday with some daytime and weekend work required.

So what exactly is being done?

  • Milling and paving
  • Extending the turn lane at 21st St. and Hwy 24
  • Replacing guardrail
  • Repairing bridges on at least four structures
  • Erosion-control

The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2020.
