The man who was killed Thursday after being hit by a car on Pueblo Boulevard has been identified.

According to the Pueblo County Coroner's Office, it was 61-year-old James Montez of Pueblo who was struck by a car while he was on foot near Pueblo Boulevard and Ivywood Lane.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, and police had shut down Pueblo Boulevard for multiple blocks while the investigation was ongoing.

Pueblo police didn't identify the driver of the vehicle involved, but no criminal charges were filed. The driver told officers that she couldn't see Montez when he was crossing the road, and there was no crosswalk where he entered the street.
