The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says the death of a 27-year-old man who was found earlier this month in east Colorado Springs is now being investigated as a homicide.

Thomas Anthony Faircloth was found deceased in a vacant lot near Galley Road and Powers Boulevard on Nov. 2. A few days after his body was found, the sheriff's office said Faircloth had suspicious injuries, however, no homicide investigation had been announced.

Friday, the sheriff's office gave the update and said investigators need help with tips.

Cody Ilett, a friend of the Faircloth family, says she saw Anthony often over the last 4 years while he lived in Colorado Springs.

"He was a free spirit and he didn't ever have anything bad to say to anybody," she said.

Ilett says she will be holding a candlelight vigil for Faircloth on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the parking lot on 5885 Palmer Park Blvd, Cimarron Hills, Colorado.

"He deserves it and I'm hoping it'll make it a little bit more well known that we need more information," Ilett said. "We need to know that he's going to get what he's owed and that's justice."

If you have information about what led to Faircloth's death, call the tip line at 719-520-6666. You can also reach out to Detective Lisa Montville at 719-520-7227 or through email at lisamontville@elpasoco.com.
