Colorado State Patrol says a 48-year-old man was killed after being thrown from his SUV on an icy road in Pueblo County.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. Monday on Highway 96 about two miles east of Pueblo County Road 201, according to State Patrol.

Officials say the driver and one other man were in a GMC Jimmy going west when the driver lost control due to ice on the roadway. The SUV then flipped, and both men were thrown from the vehicle. One died, and the other was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

It's not clear which of the men was driving. Both are from Pueblo West, according to CSP, but they haven't been identified yet.

CSP is looking for any witnesses to the crash. If you have information, call Trooper DeAntonio at 719-544-2424.
