Wildfire burning 12 miles southwest of Castle Rock

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KRDO) — Firefighters are battling a new fire called the Forest Road Fire in Douglas County.

It's burning off of South Rampart Range Road, 12 miles southwest of Castle Rock, near Rock Springs Campground. The fire was reported at 12:37 p.m. Saturday.

Two helicopters and multiple agencies are responding to the 0.41 acre fire, according to officials with the Pike and San Isabel National Forests Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands.

  1. That location doesn’t look like it’s anywhere near Rampart Range Road. It’s just a couple of miles west of Deckers, and west of Hwy 67. Rampart Range Road runs all east of Hwy 67, as far as I know.

    1. The Castle Rock Professional Firefighters map may be showing a different fire. The Pike and San Isobel National Forests info about the Forest Road Fire definitely shows it being west of Deckers.

      1. I stand corrected! There’s another fire called the 211 fire, which is the one west of Deckers. The Pike & San Isobel National Forests website had info about both of them on the same page. My error!
