Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office

AURORA, Colo. - A former Colorado police officer who stole thousands of dollars from local charities has been sentenced to 18 months of work release.

The Sentinel reported that 39-year-old Roland Albert was sentenced to the work release at the Arapahoe County jail. He was also sentenced to five years of probation.

Albert pleaded guilty in October to embezzling cash from the Aurora Police Orphan Fund and The Brotherhood For The Fallen Aurora. Albert stole more than $65,000 in 2017 and 2018 from the charities that support the families of police officers killed or injured on the job.
