Speeding motorcyclist crashes trying to get away from Colorado Springs Police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - A motorcyclist ended up crashing trying to get away from police.

Tuesday around 3:15 p.m., a sergeant from the Colorado Springs Police Department's Stetson Hills Division saw a motorcycle driving eastbound in the 4700 block of Barnes Rd. at a "high rate of speed."

According to CSPD, the sergeant initiated a traffic stop and the motorcycle tried to get away. However, the motorcyclist ended up losing control and crashed in the 4900 block of Barnes Rd. He then tried running away.

Eventually, he was taken into custody. CSPD said the suspect sustained road rash from the crash. His name has not been released.
