Colorado Springs Police seeking escaped inmate linked to vehicular assault

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police in Colorado Springs are looking for an 18-year-old suspect in a vehicular assault from 2018 who escaped from a state youth correctional facility.

Colorado Springs Police put out a notice asking people to be on the lookout for Anthony Abeyta, 18.

Police told KRDO that Abeyta was identified as a suspect in a motor vehicle theft and vehicular assault through evidence gathered by investigators.

Police attempted to contact Abeyta after learning he was supposed to be at a youth correctional facility. However, investigators then discovered that Abeyta had escaped from the facility. CSPD didn't say which facility Abeyta was supposed to be at.

Abeyta is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call 911 and don't attempt to apprehend him.
