Discovery Canyon Campus quarantines 20 people
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Academy District 20 says two staff members are in isolation and a total of 20 individuals, including both staff and students, are being quarantined from the Discovery Canyon Campus middle and high school.
On Tuesday, Discovery Canyon Campus learned a staff member, who was there on Monday, is displaying COVID-like symptoms. The staff member has not tested positive for COVID-19.
Discovery Canyon Campus said the staff member will stay in isolation at home for 10 days or until they are no longer infectious. Any students or staff who were in close contact with that staff member will stay home for 14 days.
Discovery Canyon Campus also said the areas in the school where the staff member was present are temporarily closed for deep cleaning and disinfecting.
No one from the Discovery Canyon Campus elementary school was impacted. A district spokesperson said they are waiting on test results to determine if the quarantine stays in place.
