Colorado Springs woman gives out free flower seeds
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- With summer on the horizon, gardening season is in full bloom. Colorado Springs resident Leandra Elting had so many flower seeds, she decided she would spread the love.
Saturday, she was in the Safeway parking lot at North Union and North Academy, handing out zinnia and hollyhock seeds to take home and plant -- all for free.
"We just feel like there has been so much sadness and turmoil throughout our community," Elting said. "We just wanted to spread a little bit of love throughout the community."
Zinnias are well known as some of the easiest flowers to plant. They bloom in the late summer or fall. You'll see hollyhocks closer to June or July.
