PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. -- Pueblo County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a shooting that injured a juvenile male late Friday in Eastern Pueblo County.

Just before midnight, deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of Genes Street. They learned that a "large group of juveniles" had been involved in a disturbance prior to shots being fired, according to the Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived on scene, they saw a dark-colored SUV attempting to leave and they immediately stopped the vehicle. Deputies spoke with several people inside the vehicle and learned that one of them had been shot.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, the Sheriff's Office says.

Deputies say they questions several juveniles who were in the area at the time of the shooting and have identified a suspect. The name of the suspect has not been released.

The Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate and will release more information as it becomes available.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office at (719) 583-6250 or Crime Stoppers at (719) 542-STOP (7867).
