Child sent to hospital following sex assault in southeast Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs Police report that one child was evaluated at a local hospital following reports of a sex assault early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the 2400 block of Payne Circle East in southeast Colorado Springs around 1:30 AM Saturday.

While at the home, police arrested a man on unrelated warrants. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail. It's unclear if he is also being investigated as the suspect in the child sex assault.

Police are continuing to investigate the assault.
