Man arrested in Ohio for alleged sexual exploitation of a child stemming from warrant in Pueblo County

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) says a man has been arrested in Ohio for felony sexual exploitation of a child stemming from a warrant in Pueblo County.

According to PCSO, an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detective started investigating the suspect earlier this year after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. PCSO says that at the time, the suspect was living in Pueblo County, and the investigation included search warrants that yielded numerous photos and videos of child sexual abuse material linked to the suspect.

PCSO says the detective then gained an arrest warrant for the suspect and learned he was in Ohio, which is when the U.S. Marshals Service started assisting with locating and arresting the suspect.

53-year-old Mark Lee Scott was located in Akron, Ohio on Monday on the warrant for procurement of a child for sexual exploitation, two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and four counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to officials.

"This case demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protecting children and ensuring that those who seek to exploit them are held fully accountable," Pueblo County Sheriff David Lucero said in a press release. "I want to commend our ICAC detective for his dedication and expertise throughout this investigation, and I extend our thanks to the U.S. Marshals Service in Ohio for their assistance in locating and apprehending the suspect."

Scott is currently being held in the Summit County Sheriff's Office in Ohio before his extradition back to Pueblo County.
