Cañon City arrested in connection with alleged stabbing, attempted robbery in Penrose area

Fremont County Sheriff's Office

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Fremont County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) says a Cañon City man has been arrested in connection with an alleged attempted robbery and stabbing on October 6.

According to FCSO, deputies were sent to St. Thomas More Hospital for a reported stabbing. They say during the investigation, FCSO identified 41-year-old Joshua Ghent from Cañon City as a suspect.

FCSO says they learned the victim had been stabbed during an attempted robbery in the Penrose area earlier that night. Officials obtained an arrest warrant for Ghent.

On October 13, FCSO says Ghent was arrested in the 300 block of North 16th Street in Cañon City and booked into the Fremont County Detention Center. He is now facing charges of criminal attempt -- aggravated robbery and assault in the first degree -- intent to cause serious bodily harm.

Ghent is currently being held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond, FCSO says.
