Juvenile arrested in Pueblo after allegedly having an illegal firearm, trying to run from police

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) says it has arrested a juvenile who allegedly had an illegal firearm in his waistband and tried to run from police.

According to PPD, officers were sent to Ray Aguilara Park at 715 McCulley Avenue around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. They say the Real Time Crime Center saw a group of individuals drinking alcohol in the park, and one of the males had a firearm in his waistband.

PPD says when officers arrived and tried to talk to the parties, a juvenile male began reaching into his waistband before trying to run. Officers say they gave commands for the male to stop before deploying his taser.

The juvenile was taken into custody, according to PPD. Officers say they later located an illegally modified firearm nearby that had over 30 rounds of ammunition.

The juvenile has now been booked into the Pueblo Youth Services Center, PPD says.
