Victim killed in Pueblo shooting on South Queens Avenue identified

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) says the Pueblo County Coroner's Office has identified the victim in the city's 12th homicide of the year.

According to officials, PPD received a ShotSpotter alert for multiple shots in the 100 block of South Queens Avenue around 3:05 a.m. on September 27. PPD says a few minutes later, witnesses called in reporting someone was shot and lying in the street.

When officers arrived., they observed several people tending to the victim, according to PPD. The victim, identified by the Pueblo County Coroner as 50-year-old Eddie Winslow Sanders, was pronounced dead on the scene.

PPD says a second victim had been shot and left the scene. They were then contacted by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and taken to the hospital, where they are in stable condition, according to PPD.

PPD says several witnesses were taken to the police department to be interviewed. The investigation is still open and ongoing.
