Springfield Police officer arrested for alleged online solicitation of a minor

SPRINGFIELD, Colo. (KRDO) -- A Springfield Police Department officer has been arrested after an investigation revealed he was allegedly engaging in online solicitation of a minor.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), 37-year-old Dustin Dwayne Martin was arrested after an investigation that stemmed from the Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) in Florida. According to officials, CBI was asked to assist OCSO on Aug. 19 in an ongoing investigation related to its Sex Crimes Unit, which had been operating an undercover Snapchat account aimed at identifying people involved in the online solicitation of minors.

Officials say that the investigation revealed Martin had communicated with an individual he thought was a minor through Snapchat, with the purpose of engaging in sexual activity. Now, he is facing charges of internet luring of a child, which is a class five felony.

CBI says the Springfield Police Department and Baca County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation. Martin has now been placed on unpaid administrative leave until further notice, according to officials.
