Man wanted for murder in Maryland arrested in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) says it arrested a man in Colorado Springs who was wanted in connection with a homicide in Maryland.

According to officials, 30-year-old Jabari McCoy was arrested after being named in a warrant on Aug. 24. McCoy was wanted in connection with the shooting death of a man named David Downs in February in Prince George's County, Maryland, according to officials. He is facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

USMS says its Colorado Violent Offender Task Force, along with the Colorado Springs Police Department's (CSPD) Tactical Enforcement Unit and Fountain Police Department (FPD) arrested McCoy after locating a residence he was living in near South Academy Boulevard and Milton E. Proby Parkway.

USMS says its task force requested assistance from CSPD and FPD and located McCoy in the southeast part of the city, then conducted surveillance in the area and saw him walk from a residence towards a vehicle.

USMS, along with CSPD, took McCoy into custody without incident, according to officials. He was then taken to the El Paso County Jail for processing.
