CSPD: Man arrested after burglary investigation and more than 280 calls to 911

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested a 41-year-old man Sunday after investigating a burglary and responding to reports that he had called 911 more than 280 times throughout the day, according to law enforcement.

At about 7:49 a.m. Aug. 16, officers say they responded to the 1500 block of Shane Circle for an unknown call for service. During the investigation, officers discovered a linked burglary case in which the suspect allegedly entered his brother’s room without permission and stole a camera.

Later that day, CSPD says Officer Womack and Officer Pavlica responded to the same address after the suspect allegedly continued calling 911, making more than 280 calls in an attempt to “break 911.”

Police say the suspect, identified as David Ancell, refused to leave his home. Multiple officers attempted to de-escalate the situation but were unsuccessful, according to CSPD.

Law enforcement says officers later entered the home and arrested the suspect.
