69-year-old with multiple warrants charged with resisting arrest

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man with multiple active felony and misdemeanor warrants has been arrested after deputies say he drove away during a traffic stop and ran from law enforcement.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO), deputies attempted to stop 69-year-old Robert Bullard around 11:46 p.m. on July 10 near Peterson Road and Palmer Park Boulevard for traffic violations.

Investigators say Bullard refused to stop and drove away. According to EPSO, they learned that Bullard had multiple active warrants and had left a community halfway house.

Authorities say Bullard abandoned his vehicle and ran, but deputies caught him after a brief chase.

Bullard was charged with the following, according to EPSO:

  • Vehicular eluding
  • Community corrections residential violation
  • Unauthorized absence
  • Resisting arrest
  • Reckless driving
  • Multiple traffic violations

According to the sheriff's office, Bullard is being held on a $2,400 bond along with a non-bondable hold.
