CPW seeks additional assault victims after Chatfield State Park arrest

Colorado Parks and Wildlife

LITTLETON, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is asking for the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of alleged assaults at the Chatfield State Park Dog Off-Leash Area.

On Oct. 7, CPW officers arrested 69-year-old Laurence Burley in connection with a 2024 assault at the park. Investigators believe there may be additional victims connected to other incidents.

Burley has been charged with first-degree assault, according to CPW.

CPW is looking for people who may have encountered Burley, who has two German shepherds, at Chatfield or Cherry Creek state parks. According to CPW, victims have reported that Burley shines a flashlight into their eyes during altercations.

Burley may drive a gray Mercury Mariner or a white Subaru. He is described as a white man who is approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has medium-length brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information about additional alleged assaults is asked to contact CPW at timothy.abt@state.co.us.
